P1000711Yesterday Nik Sinkola gave a group of us a tour of a place in the hills above McMurdo known as Radarsat, NASA’s satellite tracking station. The system tracks about 35 US, Canadian, and European satellites in coordination with other stations around the world. The tracking antenna, a giant dish, is housed in a Buckminster Fuller-inspired ‘bucky ball’ with thin mylar walls. Under high winds, the inside of the structure vibrates like a giant drum.
